ABOUT THE EVENT

The public is invited to enjoy free musical performances, music lessons, refreshments and more at the Community Music School’s annual Share-A-Thon showcase on Sunday, March 21, 1:00pm to 5:00pm at The Music Center.

Among the highlights will be a 3pm performance of traditional of Potawatami drumming by members of the Athens-based Nottawaseppi Huron Band. Tribal councilman Henry “Tiq” Bush will talk about instruments and traditions.

Also performing will be outstanding low brass musicians Garrett and Austin Shook, who recently won high honors in district competition. The twin brothers are students of Brian Bucec at Battle Creek Central High School.

Running throughout the afternoon will be recitals by Community Music School students and teachers who have gathered pledges for the school’s scholarship program.

Free “mini-lessons” with Community Music School teachers will be available on first come, first served basis. An Instrument Petting Zoo will be provided by Masteller Music.

Sponsored by the Target Distribution Center in Galesburg and OMNI Community Credit Union, the Share-A-Thon event raises funds for need-based music scholarships, enabling area residents of all ages and backgrounds to experience the joy and personal growth of music learning.

The Community Music School is located at the Music Center, on the north end of Fremont Street at Kellogg Community College. For more information, call (269) 963-1911 ex 2585 or visit www.YourMusicCenter.org.
